Junior Herbalist Club (JHC) was started 2 years ago as a local scheme at Lytham Park View 4U, and has proven to be both popular and successful with children unwilling to leave at the end of the first year. This has resulted in the introduction of a second year program!
Following the success of Junior Herbalist Club at Park View 4U, we are pleased to announce we will be running this one year course again, starting in September. The course is aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 12 and has been approved by both the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the RHS.
At JHC, the children are taught how to correctly identify many of the common medicinal plants growing in their gardens, parks, hedgerows and streets, the medicinal properties of a number of common plants and how to use some of these plants in first aid and how to use some plants for making medicines.
Each month we focus on one particular healing plant and once harvested, use it to make something to take home, including bath bombs, lip balms, healing salves, lozenges and much, much more!
Junior Herbalist Club meets once a month. Ten lessons are delivered over a year from September to July. At the end of the year the children are given certificates of attendance and a badge.
